Dr Burr is 1980 UTCVM graduate. His veterinary career has been diverse with about 30 years in clinical practice. He started 3 veterinary practice: 1st was mixed animal practice in Cleveland TN in 1981, 2nd was small animal practice named Lake Chatuge Animal Hospital in Young Harris GA in 2005, and 3rd was Tri-County Animal Clinic in Murphy NC in 2011. He was also one of the founding veterinaians of Mountain Emergency Animal Hospital in Blue Ridge GA in 2009. In addition, he took vested retirement from Pfizer Animal Hospital in 2004 after 12 years of service with last position as Director of US Veterinary Services, Companion Animal Division. Dr Burr retired from full time clinical practice in 2020, and now devotes his time working with pet related nonprofits with emphasis on the Human / Pet Bond. He lives in Hiawassee GA with his bride of 40 years Susan. Susan and he have two grown children, Jon Jr. and Jessica Rose. The Burrs have one granddaughter, Goldie, and another on the way, Margot.
